September 14, 2011:   Beida Jade Bird International Education welcomed a delegation of manager-level engineers from China’s largest energy powerhouse, the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC). BJBIE developed an in-depth professional development and training program customized to the organization’s desire to promote technology innovation with leading academic professionals from the MIT Sloan School of Management and Harvard Business School. The aggregation of premier academic scholars and leading industry professionals from China produced a ten-day program that informed and challenged all parties to innovate and develop through lessons in:

- Managing the Innovation Dilemma: Overcoming Resistance to Change Both in Sustaining
and Disruptive Innovation

- Organizing for Creativity and Innovation in Organizations
- Leading Innovation: Growing Through New Products, Services, and Business Models
- Experimentation Matters: New Opportunities for Productivity and Innovation-
Managing Risk and the Problems Between Quality, Safety, Cost, and Schedule Pressures  Within Complex Technical Systems

Faculty presenters were led by the esteemed Dr. Ralph Katz of MIT, whose research and publications in the field of innovation, management, and leadership provided the foundational lessons and direction for participant discussions throughout the ten day conference. Colleagues of Dr. Katz from MIT and Harvard Business School broke participants into small work groups to discuss case studies and brainstorm practical application of subjects and lessons. This focus on integrating lessons into real-world scenarios provided deeper understanding of courses, whileparticipants were able to frame lessons with association to their daily work and troubleshoot potential initiatives in their future professional practice.

BJBIE also organized a visit to the cutting-edge MIT Media Lab, which is a facility that fosters research and innovation in the fields of technology, engineering, and media. Both tours and groups exemplified best practices in innovation and management with respect to technology, which the SNPTC participants sought and Beida Jade Bird International Education was privileged to organize.
